Kinship of Tomahawk Wins Youth Impact Award at the Annual Kinship, Inc. Conference!

Congratulations to Kinship of Tomahawk for winning the Youth Impact Award at the 2026 Kinship, Inc. Annual Conference. Executive Director, Patti Hilgendorf, Board President Cheryl Brickner, Thersea Burzinski, Kinship, Inc., President and Kinship of Tomahawk board member, Kinship Match Coordinator Brittney Woebbeking and KinsKlub Assistant Keely Coffman attended the 2 day conference. The focus of this year’s conference was the elements of youth mentoring.

Kinship Food Pantry
and House Needs

Kinship keeps a pantry of food, hygiene items, and household basics for the families we serve, and the shelves need regular restocking. Canned meats, pasta, toiletries, and KinsKlub snacks are always in demand. Drop-offs are welcome Monday through Thursday, or call to arrange a time.
For 29 years, Kinship of Tomahawk has provided mentoring opportunities to youth and families in our community. Over 500 children have been impacted by our programs; we are continuing to grow and are adding more children into our Kinship program.

Kinship of Tomahawk has entered Phase 3 of our New Home. This phase focuses on creating the Green Space in the back of the building. We will be creating the space on the East side of the parking lot. This will be an area the KinsKids can play basketball, practice batting in a batting cage, play in the sandbox and garden. We will also be adding sensory equipment, resin, portable picnic tables and other items to keep our KinsKids busy.

We also have received grant funding to build a garage in the drive-through area. We continue to write grants to complete the retrofitting in the basement. This space is in need of updating to include flooring, painting and minor repairs in the hopes this space can be used in the future.

Please consider donating to help us meet these goals to make this space a safe, welcoming space for the KinsKids and our community.

22

children are waiting for a mentor

By choosing to mentor a KinsKid, you are offering guidance, encouragement, and a sense of belonging that can change the course of a young life. One relationship can make all the difference.

Mentoring is one of the most powerful connections Kinship of Tomahawk can provide our KinsKids. The statistics from  MENTOR:  shows that a consistent, caring adult can shape a child’s confidence, choices, and future.

Right now, 22 children are on our “Waiting for a Mentor” list hoping for a mentor to step forward.

By choosing to mentor a KinsKid, you are offering guidance, encouragement, and a sense of belonging that can change the course of a young life. While Kinship of Tomahawk provides many valuable services, mentoring remains the most meaningful and life-changing connection we can provide.

Please consider becoming a mentor. One relationship can make all the difference.

HS Prevention Education Curriculum 26-27

Kinship of Tomahawk was established as a result of the community roundtable held by Tomahawk Together on February 14, 1997. At the end of the roundtable, a youth mentoring program and family resource center were the top two needs determined by the community.
