Congratulations to Kinship of Tomahawk Executive Director, Patti Hilgendorf, on receiving the Tomahawk Regional Chamber’s Lifetime Achievement Award!!! The surprise (to her) was announced by her family. Patti’s tenure with Kinship spans 30 years next February. She was on the founding Board of Directors. Originally it was “a side gig,” she says of when she also held a full-time job. Since 1997, there have been some 350 matches. Currently, we have 70 children enrolled in the program. There’s also Kinsklub, an after-school program, high school tutoring, Lunch Buddies, monthly group activities, and a cooking/dining experience. And, this past year, Patti led a successful fundraising effort to secure a new Kinship home in the former Bradley Bank building, offering room for even more youth and programming. Patti, you are the best! Your heart is always with Kinship and the kids!

Every kid is one caring adult away from being a success story. ~Josh Shipp
Kinship of Tomahawk was established as a result of the community roundtable held by Tomahawk Together on February 14, 1997. At the end of the roundtable, a youth mentoring program and family resource center were the top two needs determined by the community.
